The Mush Register
SURENDRA
We lose peace of mind at 9
p.m. It returns after one-and-a-
half hours. The culprits,
ironically, are television serials
that detail how peace is
maintained in the family. My
wife tells me `Ghar Ek Sapna'
is about women who go to
great lengths to ensure an
amiable atmosphere at home.
Then, `Doli Sajaka Rakhna' is
about a newly-wed woman
who contributes greatly to
happiness in a joint family.
But by insisting she won't
miss these serials even for
one day, my wife makes me
gnash my teeth in anger. It's
around this time that most
IPL matches hot up. Then,
there is the Laughter Challenge
to watch. Hooked on
cricket and a sucker for any
comedy programme, my son
Yash sides with me. My
daughter Raksha has her own
interests - Cartoon Network
and Pogo. But she has an awkward
sense of timing - she
wants to watch them only
when the battle for the remote
reaches a head. I blame my
wife for the post-dinner confusion.
If only she tries to
practise what the main characters
in these serials do!
UJWAL
Parking himself in front of
the television with dinner in
hand is How he unwinds. He
thinks he deserves it after a
hard day at work. He expects
me to surrender the remote
because he assumes I have
had the television all to myself
the whole day. As a housewife,
I work more than he does. I am
busy throughout the day and
have few free moments for television.
I swear I don't watch
any other programme. I won't
compromise on these two serials,
even it means disrupting
peace in the family.
