Dance recital by 500 artistes

UNIQUE SHOW Few dancers at a practice session

Spirituality and art are closely linked. Both give peace and joy to those who experience them. On December 5 (6.30 to 9 p.m.), 500 dancers are coming together to perform in the presence of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of the Art of Living. The performance is to celebrate the silver jubilee of Mahasatsang. A large stage has been specially erected at the Anna University Grounds to accommodate the dancers.

Students of senior artistes such as Sudharani Raghupathy, Chitra Visweswaran, Adayar K. Lakshman, Jayanthi Subramanyam, Revathi Ramachandran, Anita Guha, Parvati Ravi Ghantasala and C. K. Balagopalan will be participating in the event. The ABHAI (Association of Bharatanatyam Artistes of India) group of dancers is also taking part.

Narasimhachari, Nirmala Nagarajan, Adith Narayan, Divyasena, Srikala Bharath, Saraswathi Subramanyam, Nidhi and Ganga Thampi are choreographing the less 60-minute performance. There will be totally nine pieces consisting of thematic presentations, thillana and rasleela.
