Needs no pampering

Rouge plant does not need much care


Rouge plant is a medium bushy herb, native of Mexico and West Indies, belonging to the family Laceaeceae.

It is a hardy herbaceous perennial. The leaves are ovate, pointed, dark green with wavy edges.

Inflorescence in long stalks bears clusters of white small flowers. The plant starts its growth in December.

Small green berries turn bright red when ripe.

It can be grown indoors in pots.

Each plant bears plenty of fruits and it looks beautiful among the green surroundings.

The ripe fruits drop and germinate. The seeds can be collected and dried.

Sow them in seed pans with loamy soil.

Place the pots in semi-shade.

Trim them once the growth starts.
