Radio Indigo will present a Jazz Appreciation Special on December 3. Listeners can tune into RJ Carlton Braganza in a special interview with Homi Mehta, a jazz show host from the U.S. He will speak about his experiences as also conduct a special jazz appreciation hour on Indigo and Blues from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Homi Mehta, who grew up in Bombay listening to Willis Conover's Jazz Hour on the Voice of America in the '50s, began his jazz education during campus sessions with Billy Taylor in Illinois. While working for Alka Seltzer in Indiana, he got the opportunity to host a late night show called Patterns of Jazz on the local station WTRC. The show was expected to run for six months but lasted 14 years, from 1968 to 1982.
In his long career sharing jazz with the world, Mehta has interviewed all the jazz greats from Duke Ellington to Dizzy Gillespie to Miles Davis, Clark Terry and legendary jazz host Willis Conover.
