Cognizant offers jobs to 1,643 VIT varsity students

Cognizant Technology Solutions has handed over job offers to 1,643 students of the 2011 batch of students at the VIT University, said G. Viswanathan, Chancellor here on Tuesday.

Addressing a press meet, Mr. Viswanathan said that Cognizant had created a new record in campus recruitment with an offer of Rs.3.05 lakh per annum for the 1,643 candidates out of 2,238 students who appeared for the selection process. The students who received job offers from Cognizant were from all branches of B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA, MS (Software Engineering) and M.Sc (CS). As many as 1,886 students have been placed, including that of core groups and the Cognizant offer put together. The highest offer was Rs.9.5 lakh per annum from Amazon.

Mr. Viswanathan said the sale of applications for admission to B.Tech programmes of the university commenced on Monday and the forms could be obtained from major post offices. The entrance exam for admission to the 13 B. Tech programmes on the Vellore campus and 5 B.Tech programmes on Chennai campus would be held on April 16 in 200 centres across 103 cities in the country and Dubai, Singapore and Riyadh.
