Tarts are not always sweet. Try out this healthy vegetable tart
Usually we think of tart as something like a shell made of flour and filled with either fruits or sweets.
But here is a recipe of a vegetable tart that will be ideal for the month of Vrishchika.
Ingredients
Wheat flour – 1 and a half cup
Cooking Oats – 100 gm
Grated carrot – 100 gm
Butter – 100 gm
Onion – 3
Pepper powder – half tsp
Oil – 2 tbsp
Carrot grated – 200 gm
Eggs – 3
Milk – 250 ml
Salt – a pinch
Method
Grind oats. Put wheat flour, oats, and butter in a food processor until it is powdered. Then add the 100 gm grated carrot and continue to process until the mixture comes together to form a ball.
Carefully roll out the pastry and line pie dish or shallow tart case. Chill.
Gently cook the onions in oil for about 15-20 minutes until they begin to caramelise. Add salt and pepper powder.
Fill the 200-gm grated carrot in the chilled pie dish and cover with onions.
Beat the eggs with milk and pour it over this and bake in an oven (pre heated 170 c) for 20 minutes, again for 40 minutes in 150 c or until firm and golden.
