E k Mukt Jwaar – a tide unfettered , a collection of 52 poems and songs penned by Anil Verma in Hindi celebrates life in its various moods and seasons. The poet has also translated the verses into English. The book was launched at Hindi Bhawan in the Capital recently.
Talking about the translation, he states that it was a risky decision. While translating a word is easy, translating an expression is all the more difficult, he opines. “There is a different colour of expression, sound, rhyme and rhythm and when you start translating everything needs to fall in place.”
Explaining the choice of title, he says, “Life is shrinking and its dimensions are dispersed. Between these dispersals, there is a need for a mukt jwaar .”
Although this is Anil’s first book, his love for poetry goes back to his college days spent in IIT Delhi. Apart from poetry, he also has a keen interest in theatre and has written, directed and acted in several plays during his stay in Sydney. He now intends to work on his next book which will give the world a taste of Hindi theatre.
