For long, fans, critics and those in the film industry have believed that Dhanush and Simbu are at loggerheads with each other. Spicy stories on games of one-upmanship have done the rounds. However, we now question the veracity of such rumours. Here’s why. Both the actors participated at the recently held South Indian International Movie Awards ceremony in Dubai, as part of which a fashion show was held on day one of the event. During the show, Dhanush walked over to the other side of the ramp to where Simbu was seated, sat next to him before exchanging pleasantries. Soon, the two were seen laughing and joking together. The next day, Dhanush, while receiving his award for the best singer, invited Simbu on stage to sing ‘Kolaveri Di’ with him, and the latter joined him. We caught up with Dhanush later, and he said: “There is no problem between Simbu and me. People and those in the industry have decided we are against each other. However, we accept that opinion too with pride. Yes, we are fighters when we are part of films. But when we are out of films, we share a weird friendship.” Weird? “Because people will never believe we are friends and we always know we have nothing against each other.”
A sixth song in Billa 2!
It’s official! Ajith’s Billa 2 will release on July 13, exactly a year after work on it began. Producer Sunir Khetarpal says: “The film will release in around 400 screens in Tamil Nadu, while it will release in over 250 screens in Andhra Pradesh. In Kerala and Karnataka, it will release in 50 screens each. The film is also expected to release in 200 screens overseas taking the overall tally to 1,200.” Sources say the film, a prequel to Billa , is two hours and 10 minutes long. Also, the film features a sixth song. Says Khetarpal: “The music album has five songs and and a theme number. A belly dance sequence shot in Georgia will be part of the sixth song that will feature only in the film.”
If things go as planned, Billa 2 will also add another feather to its cap — it will become the first Tamil film to release in over 10 screens in France.
