Chennai has yet another club adding to the exciting night life of the city — Hotel Country Inn and Suites, Egmore, has launched MIXX.

The opening showcased a fashion show choreographed by Karun Raman, who has worked with many labels. Gabbana Life and designer Richa Kapoor displayed their glamorous collection to Chennai’s hoi polloi.

Dim lighting, with DJ Dominic spinning to both retro and Bollywood numbers, made it the perfect formula for an exciting evening. Food and drinks kept going around, keeping the guests engaged prior to the show. VJ Paloma played MC for the night, and kick-started the show with Gabbana Life’s Retro collection. The collection’s dominant features were dots and floral prints with colours ranging from pastel shades of yellow and pink to the classic black.

Richa Kapoor’s collection focussed mainly on the glamorous diva image of Bollywood, using fabrics such as silk, cotton and linen. Models dressed in netted saris, fuchsia and gold embroidered churidar and kurtas walked the ramp. The male models wore kutras paired with jeans and boots.

Gabbana featured their Club Night collection, which wrapped up the fashion show by models from Chennai and Bangalore.

Despite the power failure, MIXX managed to keep the spirits high. The lighter moments of the show was when Arjun Thomas and Niladri walked the ramp at the request of the crowd.
