Been reading the newspaper or watching the news regularly? Have you acquainted yourself with the latest edition of the general knowledge book? If not, perhaps you might want to now that the 13th edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz is all set to begin!

Who else but your favourite quizmaster V.V. Ramanan will host the national-level contest that will kick-start in Bangalore on October 30, followed by other cities across the country. The regional finalists from the 16 centres – Bangalore, Hubli, Mangalore, Puducherry,Tirupathi, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruchi, Salem, Madurai, Coimbatore, Kochi, Kozhikode, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Chennai – will fight it out for the national title at the finals in Chennai on December 7.

Participation is open to student between Stds VII to IX. A school can send a maximm of four teams comprising two students each. In the regional rounds, the teams will first have to crack a written preliminary test and six top scoring teams will be chosen for the finals that will take place immediately.

The Hindu will meet the cost of the travel and stay of the outstation teams participating in the Grand Finale in Chennai.

What are you vying to win this time? It’s a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 for the winners! The first and second runners-up will pocket a cash prize of Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 30,000 respectively, besides plenty of other prizes for the winners, participants and the audience too!
