Yoga on ice

The sports day at SDH Jain Vidyalaya had something different to offer.The students performing yoga on ice held the audience in rapt attention.

The sight of a dozen students performing yoga on ice was exhilarating. It caught the attention of many onlookers. This was one of the events of the annual sports day at SDH Jain Vidyalaya Matric H.S. School, Thiruppalai, which was held recently.

Keep fit

The yoga performance was a sensational display of the greater level of endurance and adaptability of a group of Std. VII students led by Mithi Golcha and Sayani Jain. The duo were accompanied by fellow yoga practitioners Naveen G. Mehul Raj Purohit, Sushmitha, Krupa Chouhan, Kriti J. Metha, Kruti J. Metha, Vasavi, Vedha Guru. They performed as a team with co-ordination and perfect moves.

Yoga is a traditional practice which aims to increase the suppleness of the body. It also revitalises every part of the body. Yoga which is taught in the school is a combination of art and science. It offers a chance for fitness as well as helping to keep the body flexible. The concentration is on sugam, sthiram and Asanam .

The practice of yoga regularly helps to keep the body fit. Yoga can practised on different fields — with a rope, on ice or water. They performance of the students held the attention of the audience.

S. Snehaankita, a student of the school, has been chosen to carry the Olympic torch in the upcoming Commonwealth Games to be held at New Delhi. Nilesh Sangoye, Correspondent of the School, Kavitha, Board member and R. Anita, Principal made the arrangements for the annual sports day.
