Kerala's Robinhood

Robinhood, the legendary English outlaw, the hero of the ballads of early 14th century has continued to fascinate us till today. Many a movie have been made about the ‘Price of Thieves' who robbed ‘the rich and gave to the poor'.

Though we have had lot of heroes in our Malayalam movies who robbed the rich for the cause for the poor, no one was actually named Robinhood.

But now we have one, played by actor Prithviraj. No real connection with the real legend, but the private detective in the movie nicknames the hero ‘Robinhood' as he loots for a cause.

Prithviraj loots the ATMs of a particular bank using a technique developed by him and plastic cards. Prithviraj had found out some frauds committed by Biju Menon, the chairman of the bank, but had framed Prithviraj, who is now taking revenge.

Overall, it's a very entertaining movie with digital sound, good performance by Prithviraj and Naren. The movie also has some good, colourful songs involving Bhavana and Samurutha.

The only hitch is in the logic that since Robinhood looted the ATM of a single bank why could not the police guard the ATMs and catch him in a day or two?

But the movie is worth watching as it is a break from the normal family and love stories.
