Launched in October last, www.kadaiveedhi.shop is an e-commerce portal based out of Chennai, and dedicated exclusively to mothers across all age groups. Sangeetha Arunachalam, the founder of this online platform for momprenerus says her focus is on women who have taken a break from their careers and to encourage them and make them financially independent.

“I started a group called Smart Mommies on social media three years ago, which was a support group for new mothers; this portal is an offshoot of that,” says Arunachalam, a chartered accountant.

Kadaiveedhi’s USP is that it is a multi-vendor portal selling products, services and events. Women who are good at event management or making products can become members. Similarly, those looking for tuitions, music classes, legal advice or home made cakes, can find them here. “In order to make it easy for women, we take care of shipping. Complaints, service, returns and refunds are also handled by us,” she says.

Membership to this portal is open only for mothers, and the fee is ₹24,000; all workshops organised via the portal are free. They have even tied up with the State Bank of India where they provide loans under the Mudra loan scheme for women for membership as well as working capital for any business they wish to launch.

Kadaiveedhi is hosting an exhibition that will showcase their products and services, which include clothing, beauty products, books, food, jewellery, baby needs, jute products and much more. “Such an exhibition will be organised on a monthly basis in order to create an opportunity for buyers to meet and interact with the makers, but the products can be purchased online only,” says Arunachalam.

( The event is on February 24 and 25 at Sri Sankara Hall, TTK Road, 10 am to 8 pm. For details, 9962026014. )
