It's back, and it's bigger, better, and more international than ever. The Hindu MetroPlus Lifestyle Show, one of the largest consumer fairs in South Asia, returns to Chennai for its seventh straight edition at the Chennai Trade Centre on June 3.
With 280 stalls for electronics and IT products, automobiles and accessories, furniture and furnishings, home appliances and bathroom fittings, art and handicrafts, beauty and healthcare products, real estate, clubs and resorts, textiles, jewellery and gift items, spread out over a whopping 1,20,000 sq.ft. at the Convention Centre, the 2010 edition of the show caters to pretty much all your lifestyle needs (you might want to wear your walking shoes!).
This year, the choices are wider and more global, with more international brands entering the fray.
Nissan, for instance, joins the automobile section, as does Ebony Gautier for furniture. Hitachi returns with its range of electronics for the first time in five years.
A highlight is the popular Thailand Pavilion, a co-sponsor this year, which presents over 30 stalls of traditional and contemporary Thai jewellery (pendants, bracelets and complete sets), decorative items (wooden vases and boxes, artificial flowers), imported bags, perfume bottles and cosmetics containers, and designer gift packaging products. (Other co-sponsors include Canon, Shreenivas Silks & Sarees, Sun Direct DTH, Tata Motors and Propshell Business Solutions).
It's not just about the new brands, of course — your favourites from previous years will be back with their cutting-edge products. Samsung, for instance, main sponsor for the sixth straight year, returns to showcase its range of high-end LCD and plasma televisions, and, the big one, the radical new 3D LED television, with 3D Blu-ray player, and Blu-ray-integrated home theatre system to go along with it. You'll also find its ‘Frrrunch' range of refrigerators, and air-conditioners in the home appliances section.
And, it's not just about the shopping. As with previous years, there's the wide spread at the food court (put together by Q Bites) to look forward to, with something for everyone — from Vasanta Bhavan and Food Express to Wang's Kitchen and Jalapinos, Marrybrown and Dominos to Java Green and Cream World, alongside the stalls for chaat , cotton candy, chocolate fountains and popcorn (what fair is complete without those?).
The Hindu MetroPlus Lifestyle Show 2010 promises the complete shopping experience, with the help of I Ads & Events, the event partner of the show since its inception, and other partners such as Aquafina(water partner), K Lite (lighting partner), ITC Park Sheraton (hospitality partner), and NDTV Hindu and Suryan FM 93.5 (media partner). So fish out those comfortable shoes, and rest up your feet. You know where to be on June 3.
