Whether you’re looking for a pair of edgy jeans or a structured bodycon dress, The Collective in Hyderabad has your back. Making its way into the wallets and wardrobes of the city, the 5,000 square-foot luxury retailer houses over 60 international labels. Since opening its doors two weeks ago, it’s already drawn quite a crowd that’s making the most of that lacunae where online shopping often fails us.

Brand head at The Collective, Amit Pande, is excited for the city. “The Collective has been extremely successful in Bengaluru, which was home to the first ever store and has since become one of our leading stores in the country. We have been looking to expand to Hyderabad for a long time, and we’re thrilled to have finally opened here,” he says. Pande adds that they haven’t ceased operations in Chennai, but are currently in the process of relocating their store to the soon-to-be-opened luxury mall Palladium Chennai.

Coming soon

Few retailers in Hyderabad cater to the more modern tastes of women, so The Collective’s website is a sight for sore eyes with everything from grunge chic in McQ by Alexander McQueen and Versace Jeans to Ted Baker, there’s a plethora of choice.

Walking into the store, however, you’ll be disappointed to see there’s no womenswear just yet, save for accessories. Pande says it will be coming to the store based on market reaction, which shouldn’t take too long, given the style IQ of Hyderabad’s female shoppers. The Collective’s Bag Heaven in store, though, offers some solace, with the staple Michael Kors totes at ₹25,000 as well as the live-out-loud Moschino messengers at ₹18,500.

“As early as next season we will introduce kidswear from Fred Perry and Hackett London in select flagship stores,” says Pande, referring to the section where splurging is popular. High-end perfumes and cosmetics too can be expected soon.

For now, there’s a spectrum of sunglasses starting at ₹15,000 courtesy Tom Ford, Prada, Burberry and more — to complement that shade you’re throwing.

Denim for days

If you had written off Hyderabad while looking for a pair of jeans, the kind that’s a real investment piece, then The Collective might change that. Housing celebrity favourites such as DSquared2 and Seven For All Mankind, whether you’re 5’1” or 6’3”, curvy or slender, the 40 fit range in The Collective has got you covered. Pande adds, “Jacob Cohen’s gold and silver riveted denim, Dsquared2’s edgy designs, Replay’s revolutionary fabric and workmanship are some of many examples of what makes the denim range at The Collective so special.” Jeans at The Collective average at ₹15,000.

Stepping into the store is like stepping into a fashionable home-away-from-home as you lounge in the store’s library which holds collector’s coffee table books. So cut back on those shopping trips to Mumbai and Bengaluru — there’s plenty here.
