To our question on October 20: Why is it that top politicians, when sent to prison, promptly fall ill and are sent to hospital, H.N. Ramakrishna writes:

They wish to be admitted to high-tech hospitals which have ICUs with air-conditioning. Also, they are cleaner than jails. Finally, the ignominy of being in jail can be avoided. The solution: equip jails with ICUs and send them there. Then they cannot have the excuse of going to a hospital to avoid the jail premises.
