To our question last fortnight: Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde will soon step down after an eventful career where he notably brought the mining mafia to book. Will he be missed, J.L. Pinto writes: When he first became the Lokayukta, Santosh Hegde was impressive and showed zeal. But in the last six months, we saw a different person. His love for publicity demanded appearances in the press and on TV. He contradicted himself on many occasions. At the same time, he assiduously courted the Anna Hazare team. Does this not look suspiciously like positioning himself as a prime candidate for the post of Lokpal?

Our question this issue: Should the Prime Minister be included within the ambit of the Lokpal Bill?
