Shweta Taneja turns librarian for a day

June 27, 2017 03:33 pm | Updated 09:19 pm IST

What happens when an author becomes a librarian? Best-selling fantasy author Shweta Taneja always had this fantasy of recommending books to readers. The kind that she likes, that are full of spaceships, monsters, supernatural and a tadka of ghosts.

Goobe's Book Republic decided to host her to make the fantasy author's fantasy come true (how cool is that?).

Drop by at our bookstore, to interact with Shweta, check out her recommendations and her own novels and graphic novels. She will be around for a few hours, signing, recommending, interacting, telling tales of tantrism, and exchanging stories on ghosts.

Shweta says, “In recent years, a few of my favourite indie book stores have shut down across the country. All these stores, run by passionate people, couldn't sustain because of competition from either chain stores or online stores.

It is heart wrenching for an author to see bookstores where she has spend years, to be so unceremoniously shut down. I think where reading is concerned, indie bookstores are the best way to encourage people, through one-on-one interactions, listening to readers and keeping a quality collection.”

At Goobe’s I will be there for a few hours, sitting on the cashier seat, recommend the books and authors I love reading, sign my own books and talk to customers.”

Shweta will meet booklovers and newbies at Goobe’s Book Republic on July 1 from 4.20 pm
