Chopped nuts give the unique nutty quality to macaroons

Looking for a crunchy snack for teatime? Then try some charming ol' sweet n' nutty macaroons. The light, baked, cookie-like macaroon is an any-time snack and is easy to prepare.

Macaroons

Makes 15-20 nos

Ingredients

Flour - 1 cup

Powdered sugar - 1 cup

Butter ( unsalted) - 1 cup

Vanilla essence - 1 tsp

Chopped cashewnuts - 1/2 cup

Cardamom powder - 1 tsp

Method:

In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Next, add the flour, vanilla essence and tip in the chopped nuts. Add the flavouring agent ( elaichi powder).

Knead into a dough ball. Form into balls. Press slightly. Pre-heat oven at 150 degrees C for ten minutes.

Place the cookie discs on a baking tray, spacing 2 " apart, as it will spread. Bake at 140 degrees for ten-12 minutes.

Cool on a wire rack. Serve fresh with a cup of cocoa. Store in an air-tight container.
