Creating waves

HE IS one flautist who is equally at ease while performing in India as well as in countries across the globe. And Ronu Mazumdar's latest album, "Generations'', in which he has teamed up with his guru Pandit Kishan Maharaj, is already creating waves in classical music circles.

While his performance at the Vishnu Digamber Jayanti Sangeet Samaroh-2003, organised by Saraswati Samaj and Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, this past Saturday neatly fitted into the latter's objective of promoting knowledge and appreciation of classical music, he also visited the U.S. recently with the same mission and purpose.

Besides a musical programme at Pittsburgh University, he performed at 18 concerts, the most prestigious being in Los Angeles for the International Banga Sammelan. Interestingly, he has also scored the soundtrack for the Hollywood film "Primary Colors'' - an achievement that has brought many laurels and offers in its wake in a never-ending journey of excellence.
