Party workers of the BJP in Karnataka have protested the actions of rebel leaders on Thursday and called on them to back the B S Yeddyurappa-led government, which faced trouble after 18 MLAs withdrew their support.

In Honnali, BJP supporters held a demonstration in front of the house of Excise Minister M P Renukacharya, who is spearheading the revolt, demanding that he end the rebellion. BJP workers led by Shantraj Patil, BJP unit head of Honnali, submitted a memorandum to the minister’s brother asking him not to indulge in anti-party activities and work under Yeddyurappa’s leadership.

They also demanded that Renukacharya return early to the constituency and dwell on the issues facing the people.

Rebel leader and MLA M V Nagaraju also faced the ire of BJP workers who went and held a protest in front of his house in Nelamangala on the city outskirts.
