Khawaja bats through day two

Usman Khawaja was Australia’s hero as he batted through day two and remained unbeaten on 138 at stumps. That means that Australia, 307 for six at the end of day’s play, now hold a lead of 48 going into day three.

Captain Steve Smith and debutant Peter Handscomb provided the necessary support for Khawaja with well-made half-centuries.

NZ 77/2 on rain-marred day

Only 21 overs of play was possible on the first day of the second Test between New Zealand and Pakistan as rain played spoilsport. New Zealand lost the wickets of Tom Latham and captain Kane Williamson before consolidating their position to reach 77 for two.

Record man Rooney gives Manchester United Europa lift

Wayne Rooney scored his 39th European goal, the most by a Manchester United player, to hand his side a comfortable 4-0 victory over Feyenoord in Europa League.

The win implies that United now have their fate in their own hands, as they can seal passage into the knock-out rounds in the final group stage fixtures.
