Dipika Pallikal won the Winnipeg Winter Club Women’s Open in 2013. She decided to skip it this time though, and opted to participate in the WSA Cleveland Classic, only to go down in the opening round. Joshna Chinappa, however, made it two in a row for India at Winnipeg. After having a fairly comfortable first three rounds, she bumped into giant killer Heba El Torky of Egypt in the final. A see-saw battle saw Chinappa emerge victorious, claiming the fifth and final set 12-10.
