Omar McLeod set the fastest time of 2016 by finishing the 110m hurdles at the Drake Relays in Iowa on Saturday in a time of 13.08 seconds.

The feat was all the more impressive as the conditions were not conducive for running, with persistent rains leaving the track sodden.

San Antonio Spurs took on Oklahoma City Thunder at home in the first game of the second round playoff series. Pre match expectations of an even contest were far from the truth as the hosts ran away comfortable winners.

LaMarcus Aldridge dished out a season best performance with 38 points in just three quarters, as the Spurs completed a 124-92 rout over the visiting Thunder.

Vijender makes it five in a row with another KO

The bout against Frenchman Matiouze Royer was to be Vijender Singh’s toughest test yet in his fledgling career, and the Indian passed it with flying colours.

Into the fifth round of a six-round contest, Vijender was declared the winner by the referee. It was the longest of his five bouts so far, but another knockout indicates that Vijender is moving from strength to strength.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s captain David Warner continued his good run in this IPL by scoring a 50-ball 92, an effort that helped his side to 194 for 5 in their 20 overs. The batting might of Royal Challengers Bangalore didn’t click collectively, as they managed only 179 for 6, falling short by 15 runs.

RCB look to address bowling woes against KKR

With both sides having tasted defeat heading into this encounter in Bengaluru, a keen contest is on the cards. While Kolkata Knight Riders have a settled unit, Royal Challengers Bangalore have a batting-heavy set up, with the bowlers yet to find their groove in this tournament.

The three-way tussle in the Spanish La Liga is going down to the wire as Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid registered wins this weekend.

While Gareth Bale scored the winner 10 minutes from time for Real against Real Sociedad, Antoine Griezmann fired Atletico to a 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano.

Real Betis handed the initiative to Barca by going a man down 10 minutes before half-time, and the visitors made the most of it with goals from Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suarez securing a 2-0 win.

Lyon, Monaco level on points in Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain might have wrapped up Ligue 1 with ease, but the fight for the second spot, and the automatic Champions League (CL) position that goes along with it, is heating up.

Lyon beat Ajaccio 2-1 after Monaco defeated Guingamp 3-2, as both teams remain level on 62 points. The two teams face off each other next week, in a game that could potentially decide which side would be part of next year’s CL.

Fiorentina were dealt a blow to their Europa League hopes next season, as they were held to a goalless draw by Chievo on Saturday.

The all-Italian tie between Sara Errani and Camila Giorgi at the Madrid Masters went in the latter’s favour, as Giorgi emerged a 7-5, 7-5 victor over Errani.
