What is Qwikipedia?

Ever been on Wikipedia to look up an article? More often than not, we start with one topic, click on a few links and within no time are reading about something else.

Qwikipedia is a game that tries to quench this curiosity in us. The objective is to get to a particular wiki page, starting from a specific article, using minimal clicks. There is no single correct answer, so we might surprise ourselves by finding new routes each time!

Friday’s Free rider

>Kei Nishikori —> >Berlin Wall

Kei Nishikori

The week that just passed by had been really good for Kei Nishikori. He defeated Milos Raonic in a five setter, followed it up with another five-set epic against Stanislas Wawrinka and then dispatched the World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals in four sets to make it to the final.

By accounting for all these top 10 players, Nishikori had become the first Asian player to make it to a Grand Slam final in men’s tennis. That’s how far as it went for him thought as Marin Cilic, scripting a fairy tale run of his own, defeated Nishikori in straight sets to claim the US Open title. Nishikori vows to be at it again and his inspired performance has moved him up to a career best eighth in the rankings.

Tennis

There are few sports in which winning the Olympics is not as big as it is considered in other events. Winning the gold in Olympics tennis is huge, yes, but it fades away when compared to the Grand Slam tournaments, even though there are four of these each year.

Kudos!
Rajat Sinnur of class 10, PPEA High School, Rampur, was able to find an alternate path for yesterday’s Thursday’s Trekker. Here it is: Idli —> Yogurt —> Paris —> Tennis —> US open

Europe

While Nishikori provided a timely boost for Asian tennis, with a surge in popularity that might do the sport a world of good, Europe has been the traditional powerhouse for the sport, especially among men. Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer,.. I can go on listing. Wawrinka, Nadal, Djokovic and Cilic won the four majors this year; all Europeans.

Berlin Wall

Apart from tennis, there is a lot more to Europe that makes it special. Be it geographic features, art, culture and people that make the place, Europe has anything and everything that one might look for.

One such iconic place is the Berlin Wall in Germany. A barrier constructed in 1961, it completely cut off West Berlin from surrounding East Berlin and East Germany. Come November, it would be 25 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall, which paved the way for German reunification in 1990.

So the path that we have traversed today is:

Kei Nishikori —> Tennis —> Europe —> Berlin Wall

Three clicks! Hop over. It’s time for the next question:

>Prince Harry —> >Solar flare
