New Delhi (PTI): Want a slice of a 'Tommy Atkins' or dig into a 'Taimur Lang' ? -- just walk into the 21st edition of the mango festival which began here on Friday.

Tommy Atkins (British soldier) and Taimur Lang (the legendary invader) are some of the names given to mango varieties that are part of this unique festival.

Organised by Delhi government at Pitampura Dilli Haat, the three-day-festival will provide Delhiites an opportunity to know and taste such exotic varieties of mangoes.

"We have participants coming from eight states who will be showcasing around 400 varieties of mangoes. The focus is to provide exposure to the domestic mango industry and exporters," K B Sharma, Chief Manager of Delhi Tourism, said.

Developed by institutes like Bihar Agriculture College (Rau) Sabour, Navsari Agricultural University (Gujarat), several varieties like Sirki, Royal SP, Neelam, Tota Pan, Fakira, Sonpari were displayed at the festival.
