Cardamom futures remain high on increased demand

New Delhi (PTI): Cardamom prices strengthened by 0.80 per cent on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Thursday on weak arrivals from producing regions amid a low demand in the spot markets.

Cardamom for August contract rose by 0.80 per cent to Rs 848.50 per kg. The contract recorded a business volume of 5 lots.

A similar firmness was extended to July contract which gained 0.38 per cent at Rs 864 per kg with trading volume of 34 lots.

Marketmen said increase in demand in the spot market mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices in futures market here.

They said, restricted arrival from southern regions also supported the uptrend in cardamom prices to some extent.
