Adam Sandler vows not to perform stand-up comedy

Los Angeles (IANS): Hollywood funnyman Adam Sandler, who was a stand-up comedian before his movie career took off, has vowed never to perform stand-up comedy again in his life.

Sandler, who began his career at comedy clubs and was later roped in as a writer for American satirical show "Saturday Night Live", took the decision after he had to perform stand-up comedy again for his new movie "Funny People", reported femalefirst.co.uk.

The movie is being directed by Judd Apatow and Sandler plays a comic character in it. The actor was required to perform in front of a live audience for the shoot and that has put him off stand-up comedy.

"Adam hadn't done stand-up comedy for 12 years. We arrived unannounced at a lot of clubs around town and I remember we were driving to one place and he just said, 'This is exactly why I don't do this - I so do not want to do this!'" Apatow was quoted as saying.

Apatow said: "Adam was one of the best stand-ups around. He has this gift that no one remembers."
