Haflong, Assam (PTI): An NSCN(IM) militant was killed and another ultra injured in an encounter with Army in Assam's trouble-torn North Cachar Hills district on Friday.

Official sources said that the extremists exchanged fire with the troops at Chotalinglo during which one of them was gunned down and another injured.

An improved explosive devise (IED), arms and ammunition were seized from the ultras, the sources added.

Insurgents have been targetting security forces, railway personnel and property and miscreants attacking Dimasa and Zeme Naga ethnic communities in the district since May last.
