Teenager's head was stabbed with sharp weapon; police clueless

New Delhi (PTI): Police is yet to make any breakthrough in the murder of a teenage IIT aspirant in South Delhi, even as investigators were probing whether any of his friends were behind the murder.

The teenager, Sanchit Sachdeva, was found lying in a pool of blood in his house in Lodhi Colony by his mother Preeti, who works in the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, when she returned from office on Friday evening.

"The way in which Sanchit was killed was rare and shocking. He was stabbed on his head six to seven times with a sharp edged weapon and strangled to ensure that he shouldn't survive," police officials said.

Senior police officials said they were yet to crack the case and were investigating whether Sanchit (18) had any enemies.

As the entry was friendly, police assumed that the killer was known to the victim, the officials said.

"The way in which Sanchit was murdered clearly shows that there was more than one person involved in the crime," an officer said.

The officer said police were investigating whether service providers like cable operator, Internet provider and others had visited the victim's house on the day of the crime.

A police team also visited Sarojini Nagar locality where the victim's family stayed before shifting to Lodhi Colony about three months ago.
