Culling operations start in Jharkhand
New Delhi (PTI): Culling operations began in Jharkhand on Friday as depopulation of poultry in Assam was completed.
No report of any unusual mortality in any other district of bird flu affected West Bengal was received on Thursday, the Union Animal Husbandry department on Friday said.
As many as 293 Rapid Response Teams were engaged in surveillance, mopping, disinfection and sanitation operations in West Bengal.
The teams engaged in mopping culled 31,484 birds taking the total of cumulative culling to 38.79 lakh poultry birds.
Poultry depopulation operation in the identified zone in Assam has already been completed. In Bihar, 37 per cent of the culling has been carried out. The task has been completed in Purnia district and is continuing in the other two districts of Katihar and Kishanganj, it said.
The culling has started in the identified risk-prone area of Jamtara district of Jharkhand on Friday.
