    Nine new cases of H1N1 flu; total reaches 260

    New Delhi (PTI): Nine new cases of H1N1 flu were reported from across the country on Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 260.

    The new cases have been reported from Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Dehradun and Mumbai.

    One of the cases in Delhi is of a six-year-old boy who came here from Chicago on July 9.

    The other case from the capital is of a 12-year-old boy who travelled from Newark, U.S. As he was found to be having fever and cough during the screening at the airport, he was admitted in the identified health facility, health officials said.

    In Hyderabad, out of the two cases, one is of a 30-year -old female who travelled from Glasgow, U.K. to Hyderabad. The other case is of 13-year-old boy who travelled from Australia on July 12. He reported to the identified health facility with symptoms of fever and cough on July 14.

    In Bangalore, a 35-year old man, who came in contact with a positive case, reported to the identified health facility with symptoms of fever and cough on July 15.

    In Dehradun, a 19-year old boy, who returned from Malaysia, was tested positive for H1N1 flu. The boy reached Delhi on July 11 from where he further travelled to Dehradun by road.

    The case in Mumbai is of a 17-year old boy who travelled from U.K. by Kingfisher Flight IT 0008 reaching Mumbai on July 15. He was detected with symptoms of fever and cough at the airport and quarantined at the identified health facility.

    In Delhi, a leading private school has sent on leave an entire class and teachers of a student who tested positive for H1N1 flu.

    The Health Ministry in a statement said "there have been reports of institutional and school closure due to persons attending these institutions before they develop symptoms and subsequently tested positive for Influenza A(H1N1).

    "There is no need to panic as such social distancing measures are recommended to prevent spread of the disease in the community".
