Dream Runners’ Chennai Mini Marathon held

Over 500 participants ran the Dream Runners’ Chennai Mini Marathon 2012 on July 15. Flagged off by R. Natraj, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, the initiative witnessed participation from Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Mysore, Namakkal, Vellore and other places. About 300 people participated in the 10 km version, while the remaining participated in the 21.1 km version.

Corporate support

The initiative was supported by corporates including Adyar Ananda Bhavan, Apollo Hospitals, Butterfly Group, Pepsico, SIP Academy and Woodpecker Furniture. Event partners was Eyeball and water was sponsored by Fresh Water.

Most of the members of Dream Runners are above 40 and many are closer to 50 years and they took to running only around four years ago.

Inspiring others

By organising this Marathon, Dream Runners hope to inspire other areas in the city to also have their own running groups and enjoy the benefits of better health.
