A mega event was held in Dubai to celebrate superstar Mammootty. The audience was entertained by singers K. S. Chitra, M.G. Sreekumar, Usha Utup, Vijay Yesudas and Rimi Tomy and also with comedy acts by Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mammukoya and the like. Mammootty was felicitated at the event and actors Sharath Kumar, Innocent, Siddhique, Jagathy Sreekumar and director Siddique were also present. Plus the winners of the reality show ‘Mammooty-The Best Actor Award 2009’ was also announced during the event. The second part of the show will air on November 14 at 21.00.

Ente Vartha

The show offers a podium for citizen journalists to file investigative reports or news stories on issues of topical interest, on a range of themes from corruption and crimes to social issues and human interest stories. The show intends to make people proactive by encouraging ordinary citizens who are not professionally-trained journalists, to bring to public notice moral, ethical and human rights issues within their immediate neighbourhoods.

In the past 25 episodes, the show has brought out over a 100 stories by people from all spectrums of life – from unemployed youth to professionals such as advocates, engineers, teachers and even government officials.



Tiladaanam: Victers Channel, Saturday, 20.30.

In the classic Indian films section this week is ‘Tiladaanam,’ the first Indian film to get an award at Pusan International Film Festival. It narrates how money can be the root of all sins through the story of Subbaiah Sastry (H.G. Dattatreya), a poor Brahmin scholar who is forced to move to the city with his daughter-in-law Padma (Jaya Seal) while his son, Raghuram, becomes a Naxal. In the city, Subbaiah becomes ‘Tiladaanam’ Subbaiah, after he takes on the negative astrological effects of ‘shani’ (Saturn) by accepting a ‘daanam’ (donation) from the affected person. Repeat telecast is on November 8 at 09.30.

Zoom-in-zoo

(Victers Channel, Sunday, 08.30)

In a move to promote wildlife education and conservation among students community, the channel telecasts ‘Zoom-in-zoo,’ a exhibition of photographs of animals in the Thiruvananathapuram zoo by freelance photographer Arun Kunjunny.

Viewers will get more information about the animals, their natural habitats and so on. The repeat telecast is at 17.00.

Talking Point

(Rosebowl, Sundays, 19.00)

The talk show explores the issues that concern today’s generation. Hosted by Dhanya Varma, the show aims to create a platform for alternate thinking, by discussing various social, economic, political and even light-hearted topics. Eminent personalities from all walks of life are the panellists and they will be joined in by others from select campuses across Kerala. Repeat telecast is on Mondays 18.00, Wednesdays 08.00 and Saturdays at 11.30.
