At the theatre today

Ninasam Maru Tirugaata is back on its rounds with its sixth production. After Shaakuntala, Aamani, Kaladivya, Keshapaashaprapancha, and Kannada Ramayana, they are now back with G.K. Maastarara Pranaya Prasanga. The play based on the novel by Chandras hekara Kambara, is not an adaptation, but the novel itself now infused with theatrical elements. It is new in terms of its structure, and in narration. G.K. Mastarara Pranaya Prasanga us set in the small town of Uttara Karnataka, of a college principal who falls in love with his student. The eventual tragedy and humiliation, how he resurrects himself with new emotional strength makes for the storyline. The play is conceived and directed by K.V. Akshara and is at H.N. Kalakshetra this evening at 7 p.m.
