Still life

Anshika Varma’s photo exhibition at the Market Café, Khan Market, is reminiscent of Ansel Adams’ observation that “the camera is for life and people, the swift and intense moments of life”.

These photos capture the theme of ‘people and space’. Be it a man praying in a mosque or a kite seller with his kites in a busy market, all the frames reflect the underlying theme.

Born into a family of artists, Anshika, in her early 20s, pursues photography with passion. Though most photos are taken in the busy streets of Delhi, they also comprise shots from Dharamshala to Kerala. Anshika has tried to capture the finer details, like that of a boy’s feet as he climbs down the stairs. The photos include a variety of people in action. The ones in black and white display the photographer’s keen eye. Her photos are priced between Rs.4000 and 8000. They are displayed at the Market Café till March 10.
