Swarnim Kalbande is only 14 and is already becoming popular with his first experiment with writing. His first published book The Swords of darkness –Appearance of Krito is the first in a series of 13 books that the author plans on publishing. At the age of 12 with author Dan Brown as his role model, he started writing this book which was published by Partridge.
“I first decided the book’s name and then wrote it. This helped me build my story around the title,” says this DPS student.
“I began writing to kill boredom during my summer vacation. I had no idea of publishing it. But when my family and friends read the manuscript they encouraged me to publish.”
The young adult novel has a bit of everything in it from suspense, thrills and magic. The attention to detail is astonishing.
Swarnim has based his characters on his cousins. The final proof-reading of the book was done by his 11-year-old younger brother Antariksh, Swarnin adds.
“TSOD is a guy book. I doubt if any girls would read this book. The book is full of adventure and fights as I believe that anything without action and adventure is not real,” he points out. The second part Destined to Death is already in the offing, he adds. Swarnim is also a game designer and programmer. He is also studying for his IIT entrance exams simultaneously.
