DOG WHISPERER Shirin Merchant

Shirin Merchant is India’s first certified canine behaviourist and is renowned as one of the top dog trainers in the world. She has worked with over 6,000 dogs and has made a difference in the lives of these dogs and their pet parents.

“Some of the common problems that people seek help for are: toilet training, aggression towards dogs and people, fear of loud noises, separation anxiety, attention seeking behaviour, settling in of re-homed street dogs, jumping up on people, destruction of the home,” says Shirin.

Shirin  Merchant is coming to Bangalore with ‘Think Dog!’, a talk on canine traits and characteristics and factors that cause a change in their behaviour. Shirin, who has been to Bangalore before says of the city’s pet parents, “Bangalore’s dog lovers are extremely dedicated to their pets and well-informed. Their enthusiasm to learn more about dogs was heartening. It was amazing to see the effort made by people who had adopted street dogs – their inclination to learn and help the dogs settle in better is commendable.” Think Dog! Will be held at Cessna Lifeline Veterinary Clinic, Domlur, from July 23 to 27. For more information, contact, Rajeshwati at 9880396246 or email info@woofmag.in
