Makeshift mandapams, shiny saris and wedding music in the background… Codissia looks ready to host a wedding any moment! Actually, the expo “Wedding Vibes”, organised by Mark 1 Events, which showcases over 80 stalls, is in full swing.
A Kancheepuram sari in all its glory is displayed at Neelotpal, a Chennai based boutique. Their silk saris made in the weaving units of Kancheepuram are priced between Rs. 4000 and Rs.25,000. Their ghagras, priced between Rs. 5000 and Rs. one lakh, feature studded stones and detailed embroidery work.
Pretty jhumkas with minakari work and necklaces with semi-precious stones welcome you into the stall of Megha Asher. She also has kurtis, tunics, anarkalis, kaftans and shrugs that can be worn both at a traditional wedding and an evening cocktail party.
If you are a lover of the diamonds, drop in at Keertilals. The traditional vankis, udyanams and choker necklaces purr elegance.
Surukku pais, wedding trousseaus, jewel boxes …Sanskriti is the place to shop wedding gift items. These are made of brocade, silk, raw silk, jute, paper and cotton. Sanskriti also has wedding maalas, with both artificial and natural flowers.
An aroma of gourmet chocolates and cupcakes draw you to The Sugar Jar. Ashwini Baala, the owner has arranged mini cupcakes, pastries and gourmet chocolates on a tray and in surukku pai bags. “Gifting chocolates for traditional weddings has become a big trend now,” she explains.
Beauty salons such as Naturals and Aishus Beauty Clinic provide beauty tips to the prospective bride and groom. They also have exciting bridal beauty packages.
Candid shots line the walls of Priyavision and Apple Blossom Photography stalls. Both specialise in wedding photography.
Wedding organisers, Lakiru, are at hand to help design dream weddings. “Right from engagement and sangeet ceremony, which is quite a craze in South India now, to the wedding and reception, we will create the desired look for your wedding. We also do themed weddings,” says the co-owner of the stall, C. Keerthi.
You can also book suits and convention halls for weddings at the Le Meridien stall.
