Amidst an endless queue of trolleys, skyscraper-like racks of packaged foods and a potpourri of brands, Spencer’s Retail’s (earlier Spencer’s Daily) first hypermarket was launched at Velachery recently.
Local vs. global
The hypermarket, spread over a sprawling 23,000 sq.ft., boasts of a fish and meat store and a patisserie too. It also offers veggies and fruits to curtains and stainless steel vessels. From local favourites to international exclusives, Spencer’s has covered a seemingly endless range.
Spencer’s also prides itself with stocking more than 100 varieties of nuts and dry fruits, including hazelnuts, pine nuts, prunes and blueberries.
It also has a cheese counter with a range of local and international options. Sauces, spreads and flavourings from over 30 countries including American, Mexican, Italian, Oriental and of course Indian are available.
Apparently, Spencer’s is said to offer over 600 types of products from over 10 Indian States.
Spencer’s also stocks organic products. Spencer’s also has a floor for electrical household appliances, and home and office essentials.
