These days if you talk of bua the first name that comes to mind is Upasana Singh, who plays the desperate aunt of Bittu Sharma in Comedy Nights With Kapil. One of the few female actors who dabble in comedy, Upasana emerged on the scene with a handful of films in the 90s. Now she will be seen as a mother-in-law in Big Magic’s Uff Yeh Nadaniyaan .

“I’m playing the role of a cunning mother-in-law. I have two sons where the elder son is married. This is a very realistic character where the mother is very possessive and authoritative. She dominates her family members and always thinks that she is perfect. I hope the audience will find it relatable because it is quite different from the desperate Pinky Bua,” says Upasana, who has done a number of Punjabi films as well.

She says the series also has comic situations and she will be able to showcase her strength. “I am working since I was seven. I don’t prepare myself for any character unless it is really different,” she states. Upasana says the team had no idea that the characters of Comedy Nights With Kapil would be so popular. “When we started the show it was only planned for 26 episodes. We never thought it would become such a big hit that it will complete 100 episodes. It’s very difficult to get so much popularity. It is a big achievement for me and this character is like an award for me.” True, for she is back in the reckoning for feature films. “I have signed three Hindi films and two Punjabi films in the last few months.”
