5 Things to do in NYC for Spring

For most travellers, New York City is a dream destination, especially during spring. After a freezing winter, New Yorkers too await this season so they can enjoy the pleasant days to the hilt. With limitless number of sightseeing tours, photographic opportunities and historical landmarks, you can spend days here waling around and even then not getting past the first block. For city-dwellers from hot concrete jungle-like cities the fresh environment and flora in New York is a welcome change. Actor Tina Desai lists five things to do in New York in the springtime.

  Central Park

With bright flowers blooming all around, this is where one can notice the first signs of spring in the city. Long strolls are something you just can’t get bored of here. While Central Park offers a tranquil respite all year round from the surrounding cacophony of urban life, it is during the springtime that the park really sparkles.

Finger lakes

Along the shores of Seneca Lake is the Finger Lakes Wine Country. It is an elegant way to explore the New York countryside. Biking and hiking trails criss-cross across this place nestled between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes. A legendary tale is that Iroquois of the Great Spirit Manitou left an impression of this hand, which became the Finger Lakes. Fact or fiction, this place is enchanting.

Shopping is a must

Step out and splurge. From latest chic trends to summer hot picks you find everything in the spring flea markets here. Locals underrate these markets but it is a must visit for tourists. Choose from art, baked goods, handmade jewellery, photography and more.

Birding

The best way to enjoy spring is getting outside to explore the outdoors. Birding is a popular hobby in NYC and you can get into it by spending one or all six days at Wave Hill with bird-inspired activities. Bird-themed art, walks though the park where experts point out to the different species, science programmes and feathered demonstrations…these activities are sure to open your child's eyes to a new experience.

Night life and bars

After the long winter, New York lights up during spring. Most of the open-air venues are shut during the winter and open again in spring. When you’re done checking out more activities in New York City, celebrate with refreshing craft beers and crisp cocktails under the sky, relishing star gazing in the fresh weather.
