T he new Toni & Guy, a U.K based hair care brand, launched its salon at R.S. Puram. The outlet offers a range of treatments besides having bridal studios and hair extensions and colouring services. “We use exclusive hair care brands products, used by Toni & Guy salons all over the world such as Sebastian hair care products,” says Yasser, the manager.

“The hair cuts begin at Rs. 400. We offer personalised hair cut services, where we recommend a hair cut to the client, based on the nature of their daily wear, work space and face shape.”

The hair stylists are trained at the Toni & Guy Academy in Mumbai, says Sam Paul, director, Toni & Guy, South India. “It is one of the few hair care brands, in the world, that give equal importance to services as well as research on hair styles.”

Says Saravanan, the franchisee for the outlet in the city, “Some of the staff members from the Coimbatore outlet will be sent for a 45-day-long training at the Academy in U.K.”

The brand has its outlets in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Cochin. “We knew there was a strong client base for the brand in Coimbatore, when we found out that people from Coimbatore flew to Chennai and Hyderabad to get their hair cuts done from Toni & Guy,” says Sam. “We will soon open one more outlet in the city.”

The launch was followed by a fashion show, where models sashayed down the parlour that turned into a ramp for the evening. The girls, in black gowns and tight skirts, sported long plaits and tight buns. The male models had Mohawks and cropped hair-cuts. The models danced to Nancy Sinatra’s songs. Yaamirukka Bayamey fame, Rupa Manjari, was the show-stopper for the day.
