Longines, a Swiss luxury watch house established in 1832 and owned by the Swatch Group, held an exhibition of some of its very old and treasured timepieces recently at its Delhi boutique. The timepieces were exhibited by Longines to mark its completion of 135 years in India.
The oldest timepiece on display was 114 years old. The other notable exhibits included the pocket hunter that was produced in 1899, the steel sport chronograph with a precision of 1/10th of a second with 60 second and 30 minute counters produced in 1962 and a steel watch from the Ultra Quartz collection produced in 1969.
Apart from the exhibition, Longines has also started a contest to find the oldest Longines watch in India. Open till July 22, forms can be obtained from its retail stores across India. Participants also have the option of registering online on the website: www.oldestwatchindia.longines.com, where they can enter the serial number of their watch along with other details. After the collection of forms, the experts at the head office will examine the information and make their findings.
The winner of this quest will be awarded an all expenses paid trip for two to Switzerland for a week and a chance to visit the Longines factory.
