Go deep into Ladakh's most remote regions. Witness the epic Karsha Monastery Mask Dance Festival, trek 8,000 ft to Rusilla, walk on Drung Drung glacier, and emerge a far better photographer. Travelling Lens is organising three photography tours and workshops in Ladakh this July and August. Organised by photographer Varun Gupta, an intrepid traveller, the trips promise little known places and unique insights into the culture and lifestyle of Ladakh.
The workshops are modelled on a mentorship system which helps participants find their own niche as image makers. From the basics of digital photography and an introduction to landscape photography, the workshop progresses through the tour to provide insights and learning into street and people photography, understanding and using natural light, portraiture, digital photo management and reviews.
Travelling Lens was born out of a need to share, which gave rise to a collective of travellers led by Gupta. Tours are planned meticulously but give you time to explore and enjoy without a rigid schedule being imposed. Safety is paramount; travellers are given detailed packing lists, safety guidelines, maps of the route and detailed maps of Ladakh and Zanskar.
The tours kick off in July. The Ladakh Tours are slated for July 2 and August 2. This tour is open to photographers from all levels, even aspiring ones. All that they will need is a Digital SLR camera. The Guided Photo Tour of Zanskar, a breathtakingly beautiful but remoter area of Ladakh, starts on July 19.
