The number of apps available on Apple’s App store is enough to send anyone’s mind in a tizzy. The last time someone made the effort of finding out how many apps exist, the count stood at 1 million. So, if you need an app, all you have to do is turn to the App Store.

With a million apps doing the rounds, it becomes difficult to get the app you are looking for. If you type in a certain word, you will get a whole list of apps related to that subject. Of course it feels nice to be presented with choices, but if you are looking for something specific, then going through all the apps to find what you need can be rather tiresome. Quixey solves that problem for you.

Quixey is the search engine for apps. It is the easiest way to look for an app in the Apple App store or Google Play Store. In fact, you can look for apps that do specific things. For example, if you want an app that helps people share music, then you just have to type in “share music” in the search box, and it will give you a list of apps that do just that – share music.

Needless to say, Quixey does not look for only music related apps. Its casual searching makes it very easy to narrow down your search and find apps that exactly fit your requirement. The search engine, in fact, has some samples to help you. You can look for apps that will help you increase your phone’s battery life, identify songs, get news related to certain topics, accept credit cards – you name it, and it is there. It helps you find anything you think of. The best part of the app is that once you have found the app you want, it redirects you directly to the play store.

It also helps you if you are not quite sure of what you want. The app’s main page has links that direct you to three different sections, which includes a link to the latest trending apps. The trending apps link helps you look at apps that various users prefer – from athletes to shoppers to movie buffs to children. If you are not looking for a specific app, you can browse through the top choices for games and general apps.

>Quixey has a unique browsing section in that it has four categories – work, learn, play, and live. These four categories lead to further smaller categories. Once you make the second selection, you will be provided with a list of apps pertaining to your selection, and you can narrow it down further if you are unable to find what you are looking for.

Quixey has a few drawbacks as well. If you are looking for an app that “shares music”, you cannot further narrow your search down. You can, of course, filter free and paid apps, but you cannot filter them according to rating, number of downloads, and the like. You will have to go through an infinite list. Also, the app does not support landscape orientation – something that people would prefer on a tablet. But this hitch is not too big a deal.

If you love apps, then Quixey will definitely get you excited. Even with a few flaws, it is worth trying out.
