This Sunday wasn’t just another day for cricketer Suresh Raina. He wasn’t on the ground, belting out his flashy drives, but he was in a recording studio singing.
“It was a different experience,” he laughs, in a telephonic chat. “My wife hails from Meerut and it was she who encouraged me to sing. At home, I’m anyway singing all the time; in my house, when I travel. So, I saw this as an extension of my hobby.”
The Chennai Super Kings star says that the pressure was on him while rendering the number (‘Tum Mile Mein Mila’), as it was a professional musical set-up. “We did a lot of test rehearsals of the lines before going for the final recording,” adds Suresh, who is a big fan of Sonu Nigam and Mohammed Rafi.
The song features in Meeruthiya Gangsters, which marks the directorial debut of Zeishan Quadri.
