WAKE UP CALL: Breakfast is ready for those in a hurry

WAKE UP CALL: Breakfast is ready for those in a hurry

You don't have to wake up and worry about making breakfast anymore, even if it's cornflakes. ‘Rise and Shine', the new breakfast spread launched by The Square - Café Coffee Day opposite UB City will take care of your breakfast needs. The scrumptious spread has four main combinations along with some more a-la-carte options. You could indulge in a ‘From Europe with Love' over warm Belgian waffles topped by a yummy sauce along with a bowl of fruit or dig into a ‘Good morning America' with eggs (omelette/scrambled), toast and potatoes or go continental with a soft muffin or croissant, a fruit bowl and muesli. For the health-conscious, there is ‘Wealth in Health' that comprises egg white, yogurt and a fruit bowl.

But for someone who has been visiting Coffee Day for over seven years now, this food only matches up to their usual standard — which seems quite average. Though their dessert range is delectable, their food, even fruit, is nothing exceptional or fresh. They still need to work on its ‘eats'. But the story is quite different when it comes to their coffee.

It goes without saying that this spread is accompanied by the single-brew coffee from across the world — coffee grown and traceable to one area.

The Café Coffee Day Square is known for its collection of single-brews from Columbia, Peru, Ethiopia, to even the Himalayas and the Araku Valley in Andhra Pradesh.

“The whole point of Coffee Day, especially its speciality coffee bars like The Square is to make people aware that there is more to coffee than just home made coffee with milk and sugar. Here people can even buy the brews, beans and coffee makers,” says senior general manager-food and beverages of Café Coffee Day, Ramchander Raman

Unlike the other coffee day outlets, The Square offers a wider range for the palate which includes more sandwiches, pastas and even a traditional four-course meal with roasts and curries, pastas, coffee and the works.

“But the idea behind launching a new breakfast menu is that one can't get to taste global breakfast cuisines at home and a hotel is the only other place where one can get a continental breakfast.

Plus, the culture of having breakfast outside has still not set in here.” adds Ramchander Raman.

The ‘Rise and Shine' menu may gradually spread to the other formats of Café Coffee Day like the Lounge.

So walk in for a spot of breakfast and ‘sunshine on your plate' as the menu promises from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends. The breakfast spread ranges between Rs. 49 to Rs. 220.

The Square is located at Vittal Mallya Road (opposite UB City). Call 40012345.
