Sonali Cable has released amidst big budget films, but that does not make Rhea Chakraborty’s excitement any less. The 22-year-old actress is all thrilled about her movie, where she plays the character of Sonali, a smalltime Internet service provider, who is up against a big business tycoon in her combat for survival.

“The entire experience of Sonali Cable has been beautiful,” says Rhea. “It has been a long journey for me, both physically and emotionally and a great learning experience. Charu sir (director Charudutt Acharya) is phenomenal and I pulled off whatever I could only because of him,” she adds.

The actress who made her debut in Bollywood with Mere Dad Ki Maruti in 2013 says that she is a big believer in destiny. While growing up, she did not aspire for an acting career. “I never thought that I would be an actress one day. I never did any acting in school. There was only one play in which I participated and it had no dialogues for me. I was preparing to get into one of the IITs when I was in school. I was a good student,” reflects Rhea.

Rhea says that her film is not a big budget film, but the story speaks for itself. She claims that she had to go through a whole lot of training to fit into the shoes of the character of Sonali. “Our film does not need to invest 10 crores in publicity. We want it to reach the public by word of mouth,” she says. Talking about her character, Rhea says that Sonali is a strong, responsible and independent girl. “In order to be like Sonali and learn the mannerisms of the character, I stayed in a small village in Worli for three days. It was an enriching experience, I must say. We live in these enclosures; we do not know what the lives of poor people are. There was this one incident during my stay there. Our next door neighbour had begun hitting his wife after getting drunk. A few minutes later, several of the neighbours walked into their house and beat the husband up,” she reminisces.

The actress says that she has always been a protected child at home. “I was always pampered and protected. I have not experienced hunger and poverty like those people, which is why it was important for me to know what lives they lived,” she says.

Moving on from Sonali's character, Rhea also tells us about her diet and regime which keep her so fit. She says: “I do not follow a charted diet plan. I eat everything. My secret is functional training. I do a lot of kick-boxing, cardio and now I am keen on learning martial arts.”
