It has been an endless wait for the monsoons this year. The city wore a dry look even as short teasing spells of showers lashed the city last week. Metroplus captures the changing shades of the skies and summer woes in a series of pictures.

With temperatures shooting up beyond 40 degree Celsius, Vizagites protected themselves by covering their faces with dupattas and pulling out colourful scarves. Once in a while, the skies opened up to offer a glimmer of hope to the rain-starved city. But the joys were short-lived as the spells didn’t last for long. The city beaches were the favourite hangout spots of all as people gathered there to enjoy the sea breeze.

The weatherman has some good news finally! The much-delayed southwest monsoon has finally arrived in the region, signally an end to the prolonged summer woes.
